Armodoxy for Today: 10x One Minutes on the Lord’s Prayer, Number 2 – Our Father
Jesus sets the tone for his prayer, with the first words. This is a conversation with God, but He is not overwhelming. He is “Our Father.” He is approachable. He is father, that is, one who cares, and is responsible to share His love with us. He is father, who embraces us in our pain and hurt and smiles with us in the beauty we absorb. He shares our joys and suffers with us in times of distress.
Furthermore, He is our Father, not my father, not your father, but our father. As such He is the God of all. There are no favorite children, we are all his children. He is the Father who distributes His love equally among all His children. And we therefore understand, that every war is a civil war, because the argument and misunderstanding is between us and with a brother or sister, for we all share the same father. The first two words of the prayer set the address of who we are talking with. Our Father.

We continue our dive into the parable of the Prodigal Son (Luke chapter 15) by focusing on the father in the story.
The first thing we learn about him is that he gives completely, without restriction or condition. His younger son says, “Give me my inheritance so I can go out and establish and begin my life.” The father, being a wise man, certainly understands that the son may lose or squander the money, but does not argue with his child. There are times in our lives when we need to let go. Even though we may know better than our children, their life is theirs. Yes, making mistakes can be painful, but it is in those mistakes that children learn. This father understand this rule: he lets go of his son. As difficult as it is, he allows his son – the one that he loves – to leave. He allows his son to establish his own life.
Հորը երկրորդ անգամ տեսնում ենք, երբ որդին վերադառնում է։ Հիշեք, որ որդին զղջում է, կամ գոնե հասկանում է, որ կարող է ավելի լավ կյանք ունենալ՝ վերադառնալով հոր տուն։ Անկախ նրանից, թե ինչ մտադրություններ ունի որդին, հայրը, տեսնելով նրա վերադարձը, ընդառաջ է գնում ճանապարհին և նույնիսկ թույլ չի տալիս, որ որդին ներողություն խնդրի։ Նա հպարտության խաղ չի խաղում։ Նա հիմարաբար չի ասում. «Սպասեմ տեսնեմ՝ ինչ կասի»։ Նա այնտեղ է՝ իր որդուն ընդունելու համար։ Նա չի ասում. «Ես քեզ ասել էի, գիտեի, որ կվերադառնաս»։ Փոխարենը՝ նա ճանաչում է իր սիրելիին՝ այն որդուն, որի մասին հոգ էր տարել, որին լույս աշխարհ էր բերել և դաստիարակել, և որն այժմ վերադարձել էր։ Ի՜նչ մեծ ուրախություն պետք է ապրած լիներ նա։ Իհարկե, նա վազելով մոտեցավ որդուն և գրկեց նրան։
Now there are two dimensions to this. Let’s follow each of them. First, the father in the parable is an expression of our Heavenly Father. God in heaven waits for us to come home and when we do turn back, He does not wait for us to beg to return to His Kingdom. Suffice it that we turn back home that He approaches us, embracing and grabbing us, He takes us in, giving us Life! That’s what this father did and that’s what our Heavenly Father does.
God accepts us as true children of His Kingdom.
Second, the father’s actions tell us what is required of us in our relationships, not necessarily with children, but with one another. There are people who have hurt us. The degrees of hurt are not consequential. Perhaps we have cried over a misspoken word, or we have been devastated by betrayal. The hurt has left a chasm in our relationships with others. We have all created divisions between ourselves and God by virtue of our actions or inaction, yet God has given us a way back. We too must do the same and leave doors open for those people to return back to us. In other words, an end to grudges is in order. Don’t get caught up in foolish pride. Leave doors open without expecting someone to walk through. Don’t wait for those who have hurt you to return, just know that deep down there are many desires that may not be understood. If the door is open, they may return and when they do you will embrace them.
Know that the heart is speaking to you. Do not think with your mind. Be ready to take in.Be ready to embrace, to hug, to suffocate them with the love that is in your heart.This is the example that Jesus gives us through the character of the father.

Armodoxy for Today: Applying the Father — Day 17 of Lent
We continue learning from the Parable of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15) and today, continue on the character of the father. Yesterday we spoke of him as expression of the love of our Heavenly Father. Today, we understand the importance of this Lenten Season as we apply the father’s love to our lives.
The Prodigal’s father’s actions tell us what is required of us in our relationships, not necessarily with children, but with one another. There are people who have hurt us. The degrees of hurt are not consequential. Perhaps we have cried over a misspoken word, or we have been devastated by betrayal. The hurt has left a chasm in our relationships with others. On the one hand it is showing us what our Heavenly Father does, and the example for us to do likewise to those in our lives. On the other hand we have prayed, “Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who have trespassed against us.” God forgives us. We, therefore, have to be forgiving of others.
Your act of charity today is to open doors you have shut. Fast from locks that keep doors shut and relationships from continuing.

Armodoxy for Today: Patiently Waiting – Day 16 of Lent
Continuing on the Parable of the Prodigal Son, today we look at the character of the father, who waits steadfastly for his child’s return home.
We first learn that the father gives without restriction or condition. His son says, “Give me my inheritance so I can go out and establish and begin my life.” The father, being a wise man, certainly understands that the son may lose or squander the money but does not argue with his child. He lets go. Even though he knows better, he also accepts that the child’s life is his to live. Yes, making mistakes can be painful, but it is by those mistakes that children learn.
The second time we see the father is when the son returns. Remember the son is remorseful, or at the very least he understands that he can have a better life by returning to his father’s house. No matter what the son’s intentions may be, the father seeing the son on the road back home, runs out to meet him on the road and does not even allow his son to ask forgiveness. He does not play a game of pride. He does not foolishly say, “Let me wait and see what he has to say.” He is there to accept his son. He does not say, “I told you so. I knew you would be back.” Instead he recognizes his loved one – the son that he cared for, gave birth to and nurtured – had now returned! How excited he must be. Of course, he comes running up to his son and embraces him.
The father in the parable is an expression of our Heavenly Father. Jesus gives us a glimpse of the unconditional love of God. God in heaven waits for us to come home and when we do turn back, He does not wait for us to beg to return to His Kingdom. He is patiently waits for us to make that first turn-around. It’s then that He approaches us, embracing us fully. He takes us in, giving us Life! God accepts us as true children of his Kingdom. His acceptance of us is a given. The requirement is for us to say, “Yes, I have sinned. I have gone the wrong way. I have squandered what God has given me. I want to find peace. I want to find that love that God has created me in.” God waits for us to say, “I’m ready,” after which it all falls into place.
Your act of charity today is in the spirit of the Prodigal’s father, accept those who have wandered away. Are they looking for a way to come back and ask how open are you to forgive? Fast, today, from all that prevents you from opening the door to your heart.

Այս շարքի մեր մեկնակետը Մատթեոսի Ավետարանում (26) պատմված այն կնոջ պատմությունն էր, ով օծեց Հիսուսին: Հիսուսը դադար առավ աշխարհի առօրյա գործերից և կենտրոնացավ Իրեն մատուցված սիրո, բարեգործության և հոգատարության գործի վրա: Մեր այսօրվա աշխարհը ոչնչով չի տարբերվում Քրիստոսի ժամանակներից: Իհարկե, մարդիկ ավելի շատ են, և մենք կարող ենք կարծել, թե մեր խնդիրներն ավելի բարդ են, բայց իրականում մենք՝ մարդիկ, առաջնորդվում ենք նույն մղումներով, կրքերով և գայթակղություններով: Հպարտությունը, նախանձը, զայրույթը, ծուլությունը, որկրամոլությունը, ցանկություններն ու կրքերը եղել են և մնում են մեր բոլոր խնդիրների պատճառը: Յոթ տարին մեկ մեր Եկեղեցին դադար է առնում առօրյայից և այս տարօրինակ ու գեղեցիկ ավանդույթով տոնում Քրիստոսի Սերը:
Սրբալույս Մյուռոնը Սուրբ Հոգու՝ մեզանից յուրաքանչյուրի հետ հաղորդակցվելու միջոցն է: Մեր Տիրոջ ծննդյան նախօրեին հրեշտակները հռչակեցին. «Խաղաղություն երկրի վրա և բարեհաճություն մարդկանց միջև»: Իր առաքելության ավարտին մեր Տերն ասում է. «Խաղաղություն եմ թողնում ձեզ…», բայց որպեսզի մենք որբ չմնանք, Նա խոստանում է Սուրբ Հոգին: Պենտեկոստեի օրը Սուրբ Հոգու զորությամբ հիմնադրվում է Քրիստոնեական եկեղեցին՝ Հիսուս Քրիստոսի Մարմինը:
Սուրբ Քրիստոնեական եկեղեցին երկու հազարամյակ շարունակ ունեցել է մեկ հաստատուն պատգամ, որը չի տարբերվում մսուրում հռչակված պատգամից. խաղաղություն երկրի վրա և բարեհաճություն մարդկանց միջև:
Կաթիլ-կաթիլ Սրբալույս Մյուռոնը ժամանակի ընթացքում պատրաստվել և օրհնվել է երկրի վրա գտնվող ամենաթանկարժեք և շքեղ բաղադրիչներով՝ ծառերով, դրանց հյութով ու պտուղներով, ծաղիկներով ու բուսականությամբ, յուղերով ու նեկտարներով, Արարատի էներգիայով, Էջմիածնի սրբությամբ, Սուրբ Խաչի զորությամբ, Սուրբ Ավետարանի խոսքերով, Սուրբ Գեղարդով: Այն խառնվել է Սուրբ Գրիգոր Լուսավորչի և Քրիստոսի ժամանակներից ի վեր բոլոր սրբերի համախմբի կողմից, ովքեր իրենց աղոթքները, արցունքներն ու ուրախությունն են ավելացրել այս խառնուրդին: Այլ կերպ ասած՝ այն ամենը, ինչ անհրաժեշտ է՝ ամեն ինչ, ինչ մեզ պետք է միմյանց նկատմամբ խաղաղություն և բարեհաճություն հաստատելու համար, մեր առջև է:
Յոթ տարին մեկ, տառապող աշխարհի ֆոնին, այս էկզոտիկ էլիքսիրը խառնվում և օրհնվում է Հայաստանում և բաշխվում որպես աշխարհի համար նախատեսված տոնուս: Սա Աստծո պարգևն է, որը Հայոց եկեղեցու միջոցով ներկայացվում է աշխարհին: Ինչպես Հիսուսը հայտարարեց. «Այս բաները խոսեցի ձեզ, որպեսզի Ինձնով խաղաղություն ունենաք: Աշխարհի մեջ նեղություն պիտի ունենաք, բայց քաջալերվե՛ք, Ես հաղթեցի աշխարհին» (Հովհաննես 16):
Ունենալով այս նախապատմությունը՝ Դուք այժմ հրավիրված եք միավորելու Ձեր աղոթքներն այս Մյուռոնին, ասելու «Ամեն» այն օծմանը, որը մեզ միավորում է մեր անցյալի, ապագայի և ամբողջ հավերժության հետ: Սա յոթերորդ տարին է: Սա Սրբալույս Մյուռոնի օրհնությունն է:
Մենք աղոթում ենք Սրբալույս Մյուռոնի օրհնության աղոթքով. «Ով ողորմած Տեր, ուղարկիր Քո ամենազոր Սուրբ Հոգին և այս օծումը դարձրու սրբության, հոգևոր շնորհի, իմ կյանքի համար կյանքի, իմ հոգու և մարմնի պահապանի, մի ուրախալի յուղ, որը մեզ տրվեց օրենքի միջոցով, բայց լուսավորվեց նոր Ուխտով, որով Դու օծեցիր Քո Սուրբ Առաքյալներին և բոլորիս՝ մկրտության սուրբ ավազանի նոր ծննդյան միջոցով… որպեսզի, հեռու մնալով չարից, մենք կարողանանք ճանաչել Քեզ սրբությամբ՝ որպես Քո զավակներ, և միշտ լինել Քեզ հետ՝ ունենալով Քեզ՝ Հայր և Սուրբ Հոգի, և Քրիստոսին մեր սրտում, միշտ: Ամեն»:
