Virtual Baptism
The world’s first virtual baptism using technology to connect the godfather in Paris with the ritual in Los Angeles.
This may be the first and only known virtual baptism by the Armenian Church facilitated by Father Vazken Movsesian in 2006. The location was the family home garden where the community often gathered. This space called “The Garden of Dreams” had a special loving dynamic as it was where the child was born and being raised, a garden surrounded by 6 bungalows where friends all lived together as a community. A very unique and magical basin was created for the baptism ritual, inscribed by words of love and portraits of the divine spirit.
The basin water was infused with the sacred Muron oil of the Armenian church which holds the molecular DNA of Jesus (from his umbilical chord). This water was transposed into handmade glass bottles and given out to all the attendees of the baptism ritual.
The baby’s godfather was in Paris at the time and played a significant role in the Armenian baptism process. So an Apple laptop fitted with an Apple webcam was set up and handheld during the ceremony. With a wireless connection to a computer in Paris, France, the Godfather was able to partake in the ritual, a first in the Armenian Church!
This beautiful glass container holds the baptism water the child was blessed with. The water contains the holy muron oil which Father Vazken placed in bath that holds the molecules from the umbilical cord of Jesus Christ. All the participants of the baptism were given a bottle of this holy water.
The basin for the baptism was created by Gregory Beylerian, father of Lunabelle to be baptized in. It is painted with portraits of the divine spirit and is inscribed with “The Garden of Dreams” which is the location where the baptism took place, the family garden.
