Narrative of Relevance

Next Step with Fr. Vazken: In this edition – An explosion in Yerevan rocks the city and its people, and then stops shaking. Notre Dame burns while Etchmiadzin struggles with renovation. The search for relevance is beyond-the-beyond. Planting money and the camp meeting. A revelation at Grapeblessing leads to the strength found in Armodoxy and Epostle.

Don’t Look Up

Next Step with Fr. Vazken #729: Ascension… The story of Christ continues through the Church with a strict command to NOT look up. The work of the Church is around us. The shooting in Texas, the death of children, and conditions of the world… where then to look? Beyond the “whys” is the “where” – making sense of faith on the street and not in the books… The Next Step is a step toward Armodoxy.

LJ2021 – Day 32 – Courage

Lenten Journey 2021:
Faith in a Post Pandemic World
by Fr. Vazken Movsesian

Day 32: Courage
Get up and do not be afraid. – Jesus (Matthew 17:7)

There are two parts of courage, as understood from Jesus’ command. Absence of fear is an obvious attribute of courage. Not so obvious is the necessity to act about that loss of fear, that is, to “get up” and live. The Lenten Journey is about finding this courage that leads to a productive life.

The Third & Fourth Candles

Next Step #544: Expressions of hatred and intolerance surface in shootings and violence. The sound of one-hand-clapping may need to be amplified as Fr. Vazken shares frustrations along the road to understanding. Response to Nancy Gibbs (Time Magazine) challenge against hatred. Mary & Martha, more than about setting tables, it’s about Missing the Mission to which we are all called. Shining Light in the darkness – looking for the candles. Armodoxy: The time has come, today as it had come a few billion ago.

A Spare Pair

Next Step #528 – July 19, 2018 – Stories inspire us on many levels. Some are true stories of individuals who share the gift of God with us all, others teach with metaphors. Fr. Dajad Davidian (1934-2018) is remembered for his ministry and inspiration. Thoughts from Walden Pond, Thoreau and Jethro Tull’s 1973 release of the “Hare Who Lost His Spectacles” are the food (savored this time around) for thought in this week’s edition of the Next Step.
