911 Findings in NY

September 13, 2018/0 Comments/in The Next Step

Next Step #536: Commemorating 911 in Manhattan: Fr. Daniel Findikyan’s 911 Message of hope, love and light. Midweek preparing for the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, Fr. Vazken finds some gems in the Empire State. West meets East in NY with the “Salt Lady” and the Khoren of the Khorenian Badarak. Prayers for the priest: Asdvadz Oknagan or Orhnya? Just get on with it. Is Armonk short for Armenian Monk? Or are all Armenian monk’s short. MENSA puzzle with the Sharagans.

Fr. Daniel Findikyan Interview

May 31, 2018/0 Comments/in The Next Step

Next Step #521: The newly elected Primate of the Armenian Church, Eastern Diocese, Very Rev. Fr. Daniel Findikyan talks about the challenges before him. In this interview with Fr. Vazken, Fr. Daniel shares his thoughts and insights about the Armenian Church and specifically in the historic American diocese. “It is now time for the Church to be the Church… We have the opportunity and the obligation to be what the Church has uniquely been called to be… To fulfill that mission which has been given uniquely to the Church of the Armenians and to no one else. We need to focus our mission on that which is exclusive and is the exclusive God-given prerogative of the Body of Christ among the Armenian people.” Unique guidance as unique as a primate from the Lone-Star state.

May Flowers Not Enough

May 17, 2018/0 Comments/in The Next Step

Next Step #519: Interview with Fr. Krikor Zakaryan (St. Garabed, Rancho Mirage) on faith, the Church and engaging the youth. Also, Fr. Vazken connects some dots that didn’t seem to connect: How the bloodless revolt didn’t translate in Israel: 60 dead in Gaza. Fr. Daniel Findikyan’s first pastoral message as Primate of the Eastern Diocese. Attention recognitionists: Did you really want it this way? Genocide recognition as a punishment statement? Pages of Armodoxy peeled open.

Let’s Give the Footnote a Chance

November 12, 2009/0 Comments/in The Next Step

Next Step #75 – November 12, 2009

Interview with Fr. Daniel Findikyan (part 1 of 2) – Dean of the St. Nersess Seminary (www.stnersess.edu). Fr. Daniel explains why the Armenian Church is “more than a footnote” in Christendom and World history. What does the Armenian Church have to offer the rest of the world? Here is a candid talk about the centrality of Christianity to Armenian Identity. Also on this cast, Fr. Vazken reflects on Veterans day and the need for a new metaphor, one for peace. A preview of the Advent calendar is coming.
