Home for Christmas

Next Step with Fr. Vazken #706: The Christmas song, “I’ll be home for Christmas” is the backdrop of this Next Step, as tragically the number of people celebrating Christmas without their loved ones climbs because of the pandemic, and many other life-turns at the end of 2021. A personal account of a few people that continue to make a difference in the world.

Eco-reform

Next Step with Fr. Vazken #688: What will it take? Whether it’s the pandemic asking for us to vaccinate, or global warming begging us to take care of our planet, the choice is ours. What will it take to react? Code Red is here. Dr. Seuss tried 50 years ago with The Lorax and today voices beckons us. Pope Francis on reform, evangelization and proselytism, and an invite to all. McKenzie and the Lonely People

Next Step #660: Fr. McKenzie wipes his hands at the grave and who was saved? A look at funeral, death and ultimately life. Nothing morbid about this discussion, it’s about a healthy look (yes with tears!) at death. Sending the soul back to its maker with prayers and reflections – it’s an Armodox approach. No touching during the pandemic: And now the Lonely People. Entitlement and Salvation. Challenger Disaster, 35 years ago. The gen-gen generation.

Box Cars

Next Step #628: Twelve years to the date of our first WEEKLY podcast: Recommitting to the ministry that brought us here. Cautions against the new fanaticism in the guise of religion – justifying hatred in the name of God. Warning: May induce vomiting. The usual scapegoats and how they’re being used this time to deflect personal responsibility. Coining the phrase “Happy Harry Syndrome” and simply expressed: iPhone+FB= The Electronic Fallacy. Reflections on celebrating anniversaries in the middle of world crisis and the pandemic. A tapestry that has been woven.

Is Normal B.C. possible?

Next Step #626: Life had changed since the pandemic and continuing through the death of George Floyd. Is there a new normal? Any hope of returning to normal B.C.? Here is a straight-forward and simple way of finding purpose and meaning in this hurting world. A Christian response to today: Finding God so Ego can be forgotten. Why Christianity is a radical approach to life’s difficulties. Acknowledging God validates your humanity. Peel an onion and there’s nothing in the middle. Peel an artichoke to find the heart and flavor. From Christ to Floyd: Human torture and “humane” death. “As you have done to him you have done to me…” (It works both ways.) Jesus’ death cause: Asphyxiation and now the “least of his brothers” has died of the same causes.

Ascension Relevance

Next Step #624: Ascension day: Thoughts of Ascent for Christ: Leading and pushing us to heights. Answering the “Where is God?” question, not as an apology but in real terms: Armodoxy at its best – one you won’t want to miss. When a pastor loses faith and a look at the broken heart. Ascension as a direction for every follower of Christ: He is with us to the end of time! (Matthew 28:20)

Praying

Next Step #623: A special edition of the Next Step: Praying. The podcast is as simple as its title. No philosophizing, no explanations, just praying and leaving the rest to God and the listener. A flow of words and gospel with interludes of gospel and music. Following a call by Pope Francis and leaders of different traditions calling for a day of prayer against the COVID-19 pandemic.
