Think and Have

One minute for standard time: Think & Have

We are back to Standard Time. Sunday’s Gospel has Jesus pronouncing, “Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what they think they have will be taken from them.” (Luke 8:18)

This is neither a condemnation nor a curse. Rather, Jesus defines reality. What we think we have will be taken from us. We gained an hour this weekend, not really. It will be taken back from us next Spring with Daylight Saving Time. We thought we had an extra hour, but did we?

Time for an inventory. In a world where Botox can erase facial lines, what are the things we think we have? And what are truly ours? Would anything change if those things were taken away.

Today’s one minute for standard time.

Fr Vazken you are such a breath of fresh air. Your approach to and content of your message needs to be shared with small communities in this diaspora. You are the example of what we need to resurrect our rigid traditional Badarak which served our post genocide communities effectively. But now in this turbulent 21st century your approach to reaching out is desperately needed.
God bless you and your mission.
